First and foremost, Stormhyttene at Lykling offers a truly unique overnight experience — unlike anything else. With a 360-degree view, you'll witness breathtaking sunsets and the raw power of autumn storms up close.
The open sea dances in a way only the ocean can. Watch sea eagles circle above, or lose yourself under a magical star-filled sky on clear nights. Whether the weather is calm or wild, being this close to nature is always a powerful experience.
We hope to give you a small but unforgettable memory for life!

The round shape of the cabins is inspired by traditional igloo and turf hut designs, used by people in the Arctic regions for thousands of years. The form ensures that strong winds have no edges to grip, allowing the wind to glide smoothly over. Each cabin is securely anchored to the bedrock with storm-resistant pillars.
The “Golden Eye Cabins” are named after the old gold mining site they stand on – and are called GoldenEye North and GoldenEye South.
They are built with custom-made, unbreakable glass and feature insulated wooden floors. The interiors are tastefully furnished to offer a feeling of luxury in the heart of nature. Naturally, they’re equipped with a heat pump to keep you warm on cold days and cool on warmer ones.
Just outside, you’ll find a private bathroom with an incineration toilet and a sink with a foot pump.Inside the igloo, you'll find amenities like a fridge, binoculars, bed, chairs – and Wi-Fi.Everything is in place for a great experience.
But the magic? That’s up to you to create.
In harmony with nature and history and for the benefit of our guests.
Our vision is to work in harmony with nature, history, and our identity here on Bømlo. We aim to be innovative while ensuring sustainable development that respects the landscape, the environment, and local heritage. With these values as our foundation, we strive to offer our guests meaningful and unforgettable experiences.
It’s rare to reach the finish line without good people by your side — and the same has been true for us. A kind-hearted grandfather with a hammer in hand has been a huge help, along with wonderful parents and in-laws who are always there when we need them.
We’ve also received important public support in various ways. Through Siva’s incubator program at Atheno, we’ve had access to valuable guidance and encouragement. They’ve pushed us forward when needed, challenged us when it mattered, and cheered us on along the way. Innovation Norway has been supportive from the very first time we presented our plans, helping make this venture possible through both financial backing and expert advice.
The Sunnhordland Regional Council supported a preliminary project during the early cabin development phase, and the municipality of Bømlo has shown continuous positivity throughout.
All of this gives us motivation and confidence to keep building our vision of farm tourism out here on the rugged coast of Bømlo.
It all started with a wild idea back in 2017. What if we could create a truly unique overnight experience – unlike anything else in Norway?
We had access to an area where large-scale gold mining took place between 1882 and 1910. At its peak, several hundred men worked in the mines here – and they found over 200 kilos of gold. All of this in a landscape that, to us, is breathtakingly beautiful.
The conclusion was clear: Yes – we can create one of the most spectacular places to stay in all of Norway!
Now, in 2022 – after all the necessary approvals, testing and adjustments – we are ready to welcome you.
