Why visit the storm cabins at Lykling?

First and foremost, the storm cabins at Lykling offer accommodation for those seeking an experience unlike any other. Positioned in the old gold mining field where Norway's largest gold mining industry unfolded in the late 1800s, and right next to the farmstead of Gullvegen Gardstun, with the vast sea as the closest neighbor.

The view is 360 degrees. Here, you'll witness the most beautiful sunsets and experience the harshest autumn storms up close. The mighty sea dances in a way only the mighty sea can. You can lie down and watch the sea eagle circling the area, or lose yourself when the magical starry sky reveals itself on clear nights. Whether the weather is fair or stormy, it is always a powerful experience to get so close to nature!

About the storm cabins:

The round shape is based on the traditional igloo and gamme forms that have been used by people in the North Calotte for thousands of years. The shape prevents strong gusts from finding a grip, allowing the wind to glide over. The platforms they stand on are securely anchored in the mountain with storm-proof pillars.

They are made of specially crafted, unbreakable glass and have insulated wooden floors. Furnished with tasteful interiors, the goal is to give you a sense of luxury close to nature. Of course, there's a heat pump for heating on cold days and cooling on hot days.

Just outside, you'll find a toilet room with an incinerating toilet and a pump sink. Inside the igloo, you'll find a refrigerator, binoculars, a bed, chairs, and Wi-Fi, among other amenities. Everything is set up for a great experience.

But the good atmosphere is something you'll have to create yourself!

Food/Cooking: Bring your desired drinks and food. There's an outdoor grill available. Indoors, there's a small "mini" kitchen with a refrigerator and water-boiler, where you can prepare simple meals and store brought food and drinks.
